Burlesque Workshop with Miss Emilia (aka Prince$$)
Friday, July 3 4:30-6:30pm
Tuesday, July 7 11:00am-1:00pm
In this two part-series, Miss Emilia will take participants through Burlesque 101, teaching the history, politics, messaging and technique behind this art form that has experienced such a growth in popularity and spurred such a creative community. Participants will get a chance to learn about the main performers in the NYC burlesque scene, watch some videos, learn basic dance moves and style tips, and build their own body confidence and awareness through burlesque exercises. They will also have the opportunity to develop their own burlesque-inspired acts - from concept and costuming to song-mapping, choreography and beyond.
