My girl, dear friend, college comrade & roommate of almost a year is moving out of NYC, finally, after a few years living here and hard in Brooklyn & a bit in Baltimore & Philly. She is a photographic artist and is moving on to work on her art, finding places that you can actually live in without BUSTING ass and not giving your art all your attention.
All three of us - the inhabitants of our “lovely lady den” in Williamsburg and throwers of DJed garden parties and intimate dinner parties and late night or all day sisterly estrogen-filled lady lovefests - we are all moving on in a way. Ash and I subletted our beautiful apartment that we all put so much love into. We found a home for our cats (a loving family in Washington, DC). And now we are manifesting ourselves as artists. As mobile youth. We can roam. And we can flourish.
Thank you for the beautiful poetry Lyss. And goodbye to you too. But it’s really the start of something new. And something awesome. So really, HELLO!

and THIS is why I love my neighborhood. Got a bike at the place AROUND THE CORNER (s 6th & bedford) at the last minute for my trip to Fort Tilden the next day! AND IT’S OPEN ‘TIL MIDNIGHT. Check out those hours - THAT’S what I call operating hours! AND IT WAS ONLY $20. AND they just are unrolling a $10/month bike rental plan.
This bike shop fills my heart with joy.
